It has been eleven years since the nation was rocked to its core by the mass shooting of little children and their teachers at Sandy Hook, and yet there has been no meaningful reform – only more mass shootings. Thoughts and prayers haven’t ended them, and they never will. We need action.
Mothers for Democracy has identified six crucial issues that directly impact families — common sense gun safety, quality public schools, climate action, healthcare access, LGBTQ+ rights, and voting protections. Thoughts and Prayers is our first ad for the ‘24 election cycle.
“Thoughts and Prayers” points out the hypocrisy of people who say “thoughts and prayers” while going on with their lives as if nothing has happened. They would rather stand around and say “thoughts and prayers” instead of saving children’s lives.
Thoughts and Prayers remind us that without “action” we will never address the biggest issue of our time. The number one killer of children is not drowning, cancer, or car wrecks. It is guns. And we have waited years for our politicians and leaders to act, but they continue to do nothing! In some cases it has been even worse – they block those who would act at the most basic level. This CANNOT continue.
American Mothers and Others are tired of the lack of action on behalf of what most Americans overwhelmingly want in regards to gun reform. The time has come for us to force them to act immediately. We have joined together with other survivor organizations to do something about it. Our families, but especially our children, do not have to live this way. We need your voice too, so join with us in stepping up and saying “We Demand Gun Reform NOW!”
